About Us
Marafiki Wa Mayatima is a Swahili sentence that directly translates to “Friends of Orphans.” The name was drafted from the inspiration of forming a long-lasting, friendly, and family-like relationship with the children in the orphanages and streets that often do not have biological families for one reason or another, thus ending up in those settings.
We believe as an organization that Unity is Strength and that with collective efforts and responsibilities, like-minded people, groups, and organizations (registered or not) can combine to put smiles on the less privileged, always offering them a shoulder to lean on.
Much appreciation goes to the Foundation’s CEO/Founder, Fredrick Arthur Odhiambo, who coined the whole idea (having hailed from the slums and thus understanding the difficult situations that such kids undergo). It started with simply involving friends and visiting the children before finally growing into a registered organization, with all due processes followed.
To this effect, the organization remains open to all well-wishers who wish to join in the noble course of supporting the less fortunate in the community. Making a child smile and feel a worthy member in society is always the ultimate goal.
